The miniature floats

Every year the Acireale Carnival Foundation takes care of the preparation of the miniature float competition, with the aim of promoting the development of new talents in papier mache.

These small works set up by the youngest, future of the carnival, engage them for several months in the realization through various manufacturing processes: the modeling of the clay, the plaster mold, the modeling with paper expertly glued sheet after sheet until reaching the desired layer. Then proceeding to install motors, pulleys and brackets inside for the final movements and finally the coloring of the subjects to obtain the complete work.

The skilfully set up miniature floats are an attraction for the many tourists who visit the exhibition, who are amazed by how these small moving works can emulate the large floats that parade along the Acireale circuit.
