The miniature floats
SANTI, AURORA E FLORIANA PRIVITERA (Cat. A)
MI RITORNI IN MENTE
Let's imagine the Carnival of Acireale as a film by Federico Fellini, an "Amarcord" of Acireale that retraces the historical images of our event. The screenplay is a vibrant and colorful Rio, with its Brazilian dancers whose engaging samba draws the crowd.
This is not just a dream, but what we have experienced and wish to relive, we lovers of the Carnival of Acireale!
The miniature float is made primarily of papier-mâché and Roman cardboard, with some elements modeled in clay. The supporting structures are made of wood and iron. The various moving elements are operated by a system of levers connected to gear motors, which animate the entire float, from the larger components to the expressions of individual pieces. The whole is enhanced by LED lighting and special effects operated by control units. The painting and finishing are done with a mixed technique of airbrush and brush, using water-based acrylic colors.
