The allegorical floats
The papier-mâché Masters of Acireale gather in cultural associations to which the Foundation entrusts a warehouse for the construction of the float. Each workshop (both those building first-category floats and those constructing second-category ones) has its own space where they begin working several months before Carnival without interruption.
All workshops are located in the Carnival Citadel, north of the city of Acireale. It is here that every year, papier-mâché floats and flowered floats come to life. It is here that the marvelous works of art created by the masters of Acireale are reborn each year, a combination of skill and artistry. Each workshop encompasses various specific skills to create every part of the float, from sketch design to movements, modeling, and coloring.
