The miniature floats
LUCIO TROVATO (Cat. A)
UNICI
The work focuses on the theme of uniqueness, also considered as diversity. Each of us is unique and must not lose our uniqueness. When we say "We," it is important to take care of others, but even more to exalt the "I" to value our uniqueness, because behind each person there is a different story that makes us unique. Too often, people are not accepted for who they are, because they are considered different and thus victims of violence.
The connection with Gulliver, an explorer who finds himself on an island inhabited by Lilliputians, characters of small stature and mind, is evident. Shocked by his enormous stature, they tie him up out of fear. This is also the attitude of today's society: instead of understanding the different, it limits their freedom with all forms of intolerance.
In the central part of the float, we find a cage that incorporates all the repressed feelings that many people cannot express for fear of being judged by ruthless individuals, represented by crows, who wait for the right moment to unleash their intolerance towards others.
The purpose of the work is to push for the acceptance of uniqueness and diversity through the search for a new heart, symbolized by the Tin Man with his intense desire for a heart. Today we are too busy to stop and love; we must find a heart full of feelings to avoid remaining empty like a piece of tin and at the same time a beating heart that makes us understand that each person is themselves in their own way.
