DESTINAZIONE FORTUNA
The miniature float "Destination Fortune" invites reflection on the beauty and unpredictability of life. The combination of folkloric, symbolic, and cultural elements creates a narrative that celebrates fortune, destiny, and tradition, offering a memorable visual experience.
The central scene features a blindfolded goddess, the ultimate symbol of fortune and destiny, seated on a cornucopia overflowing with coins and four-leaf clovers, symbols of wealth and prosperity. The blindfold invites reflection on the unpredictability of fortune, while the cornucopia represents the continuous flow of abundance and possibilities in daily life.
Behind the goddess, a majestic wheel of fortune symbolizes chance and opportunity. The wheel, with its colorful sections, evokes the game and uncertainty of destiny, accompanied by two Neapolitan "horn-men" (sciò sciò), traditional good luck charms believed to ward off negativity. On the sides, two Calabrian Nasocchi masks, also good luck charms, add a folkloric and popular touch, serving as talismans of hope and optimism.
Overlooking the entire composition, a large Joker, symbol of surprise and fortune, dominates the scene. The Joker encapsulates the essence of the float, emphasizing that life is a continuous game where every card can bring unexpected opportunities. The presence of the Joker suggests the importance of embracing the unknown, playing one's cards without fear, and welcoming what destiny has in store.
