GABRIELE PUGLISI   (Cat. A)

PRIGIONIERI DELLA NORMALITA'

The work addresses the delicate theme of social oppression. Today, many are forced to follow the social current and undertake life paths that are not part of their plans, to avoid being considered "different".
An example is the young man depicted in the foreground, forced to learn to avoid being labeled as a failure and ignorant, thus abandoning his dream. Knowledge is not always the only way to achieve success; cultivating one's passions can also lead to success. However, society and sometimes family, with their expectations, force us to do what is considered "normal".
We feel limited to doing only what is deemed "right", as if we had a monster behind us ready to attack and oppress us if we do not meet expectations. The message of the work is "Let us dream". Let us live our dreams with open eyes, fly in the infinite sky like the dreaming boy immersed in blue among the sun, moon, stars, and rainbows. Let us try something "different" and we will show that there are other paths, more tortuous but also more colorful and less gray.
Do not make us "Prisoners of normality"!
