The glaciers of the world melted in 2022 at a dramatic rate, and their preservation is essentially a lost cause: as reported by the United Nations, various indicators of climate change have reached record levels. According to the WMO, the Antarctic sea ice has reached the lowest level ever recorded, and the melting of some European glaciers has literally surpassed records. Furthermore, the melting of glaciers and the rise in sea levels—which again reached record levels in 2022—will continue for thousands of years. This is revealed in the latest annual report from the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), published in Geneva on the eve of Earth Day 2023.
