U.S.A. E GETTA
A reflection on the transformation of the “American Dream,” once a symbol of redemption, freedom, and opportunity for those arriving from all over the world. The United States, historically a land of welcome and democracy, is now turning into a fortress that raises walls and closes its doors to those seeking a better future. In the satire of the piece, Donald Trump becomes a modern Pied Piper who, with his tune, drives away values, rights, and hopes: the same foreigners who once helped America grow are now pushed back and denied education, work, and opportunity. Around them, mice striking the Liberty Bell in vain denounce the loss of freedom, while eagle and buffalo guardians defend a country that has lost its identity. Even the Statue of Liberty appears distorted under the weight of consumerism. “U.S.A. e Getta” is a critique of protectionism that turns an ideal of welcome into a model that discards anything it no longer recognizes as its own.
