OFFICIAL POSTER OF THE 2027 ACIREALE CARNIVAL

THE OFFICIAL POSTER FOR THE 2027 ACIREALE CARNIVAL REVEALED: A BRIDGE BETWEEN MEMORY, IDENTITY AND PLACE

During Notte dei Bozzetti, Dr. Marco Marcellino, Art Director of the Acireale Carnival, unveiled the Official Poster for the 2027 Acireale Carnival, the latest step in a creative journey that has been developed over the past two years to give the event’s visual identity greater strength, consistency and recognition.

The new poster is a reinterpretation of a historic poster from the 1950s. It draws on its spirit and original composition, reimagining them through a contemporary visual language and the symbols that now define the Acireale Carnival.

The traditional figures of the Commedia dell’Arte have been replaced by Lavica, Zagara and Ionica, while the Aci area itself becomes an integral part of the composition. The Faraglioni sea stacks of Aci Trezza become the mascots’ headdresses, while the Castle of Aci is transformed into the giant hat of the carnival mask, also echoing elements found in the coat of arms of the City of Acireale.

And then there is the mask itself: a meeting point between the fantastical, grotesque character of our carnival floats and the Baroque imagery so deeply rooted in the city.

The local landscape, therefore, is not simply the backdrop to the Carnival: it becomes the Carnival.

The Faraglioni become a costume.
The Castle becomes a mask.
The Baroque becomes the stage.

The 2027 poster thus tells the story of a meeting between past and present, tradition and innovation, Carnival and place.
A new image that looks to the future without forgetting where we come from, because the future of the Acireale Carnival continues to grow from its history.
